1935 Leyland Lion LT5A (Metro 36)

History

This bus was delivered new to the Metropolitan Omnibus Coy (Metro) of Fremantle on 11th May 1935 and remained in service until 1957 when it passed to Henderson’s Bus Service of Bunbury. It was used to transport workers between Bridgetown and the timber mill at Donnelly River and as a school bus by Molyneux of Bridgetown until 1965 when it is believed to have been set aside. It sat in Yornup and Bridgetown before being acquired for preservation by BPSWA member Bob Pearce who subsequently donated it to the Society.  Its original Leyland diesel engine was replaced with an E101 unit from a later LT9 model.

FUTURE:  As a long term project it is intended to overhaul the chassis and mechanical components and reconstruct the body.
